Why it exists
Newer versions of macOS and other systems no longer open the old file sharing that AirPort Time Capsule disks use (AFP). The disk still works, but you cannot reach your files. Capsule Bridge talks to the disk directly, so your old photos, videos and documents are reachable again.
Questions and answers
Why can my Mac no longer open my Time Capsule?
macOS 27 removed support for AFP, the file-sharing protocol the Time Capsule uses, and the Time Capsule does not offer the newer SMB versions that macOS now requires. The disk itself is fine; the Mac can no longer talk to it.
What does Capsule Bridge do?
It speaks AFP directly, so your old disk shows up again in Finder (Mac) or Files (iPhone, iPad, Android). You can browse, open and copy your files.
Does it change my Time Capsule?
No. It does not change the device's settings or firmware and installs nothing on it. It connects like any file-sharing client.
Is my data safe?
The free version only reads. In the Full version, deleted files go to a recoverable trash first, and photo backup never deletes anything from your phone or your disk.
Do I need an account or a server?
No. There is no account, no server of ours and no tracking. Everything stays between your device and your disk on your own network.
Can I rescue my old Time Machine backup?
The backup is a large file bundle on the disk. Capsule Bridge lets you reach it and copy it to a modern drive, so you do not lose it.
Is it available now?
Not yet. It is coming soon to the Mac App Store, the App Store and Google Play. Write to us and we will tell you when it is out.
